Job Description Summary:

As the Maintenance Team Leader, you will lead a team of five to seven machine maintenance and repair professionals. In this pivotal role, you will blend managerial responsibilities with hands-on expertise to ensure all machinery operates at peak performance. Your responsibilities will include assuring the outstanding working order of all machines, assessing project requirements, measuring the performance of mechanical components, and directing improvements to enhance equipment effectiveness and productivity. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with senior management to provide guidance on production improvements, new machinery acquisitions, and long-term production strategies, positioning yourself as a key voice in shaping the future of the plant.


  • Manage control system improvement projects.
  • Create training modules for Maintenance Technicians in conjunction with the Maintenance staff.
  • Implement a total preventive maintenance program for all equipment.
  • Manage the creation of technical documents including prints, manuals, software, and programs.
  • Manage and install capital improvement projects and assist in the design, purchase, and installation of production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot PLC’s, AC/DC drive systems, tension and heat control loops as necessary.
  • Utilize control systems to obtain data for preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Organize and review work effort and scheduling for improvement projects.
  • Perform detailed planning for maintenance projects (i.e. shut down, equipment overhauls, etc.) with other members of the maintenance staff.
  • Recommend and review SOP’s to ensure safety and efficiency in the activities of the maintenance department.
  • Contribute to the LOTO system, audits, write procedures, and training.
  • Liaise with suppliers, customers, and staff.
  • Manage budgets and make improvements to current operations to enhance efficiency.
  • Investigate production problems and provide technical advice.
  • Direct the installation of new equipment and be responsible for legal requirements, including permits, etc.
  • Familiarity with facility/building construction, including codes, permits, etc., is a plus.
  • Ensure compliance with local and federal agencies including OSHA, EPA, Air Quality, Fire Department, etc.
  • Perform other duties assigned or tasked by upper management.

Additional Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an engineering role in a manufacturing operation.
  • Experience in the manufacturing or printing/converting industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a printing or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Hands-on machine maintenance and repair experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with personnel, product, and food safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and delegate work effectively.
